Prelude

Call to Worship

One: What joy we feel when we are called together to celebrate God’s love.

All: God’s love flows through our lives!

One: This is what it means to be the body of Christ!

All: this is what it means to be faithful witnesses to God.

One: Let us rejoice on this day!

All: Lord, we thank you for the blessings you pour on us.

Hymn                                 Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken                          81 purple (vs. 1 & 2)  278 green (vs.  1 & 2)

Opening Prayer

Almighty God, help us as we continue our life journey: may we be like the woman at the well and recognize Jesus in our midst.  Let us be refreshed by the living water of your presence and love, and grant us the courage to tell the world that we too have seen the Messiah.  We offer these prayers in the name of our Lord and Savior, who taught us to pray saying:

Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, they will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. AMEN

Call to Confession

Prayer of Confession

Gracious God, when it comes to our faith, we know we could learn from the Samaritan woman. So forgive us for the times when we remain silent about what our faith means to us. Forgive us for the times when we choose comfort over bravery. And forgive us for the times we shut people out. Teach us to be brave like the Samaritan woman, and saturate our thirst for that which leaves us thirsty. With hope and gratitude, we confess all that we have done and all that we have left undone.

Assurance of Pardon

Gloria Patri

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.  Amen, Amen.

Passing the Peace of Christ

ONE: Since Christ has extended to us the peace of God, let us, as his disciples, spread his peace to others. The peace of Christ be with you.

ALL: And also with you.

ONE: We are now going to check to see who is with us this morning as our way of sharing Christ’s peace.

Affirmation of Faith          Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, And sitteth on the right hand Of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.  Amen.
